About Me

Every surface is a canvas. A canvas in that it holds or contains textures, colors and dimension.   A canvas in that the surface physically holds glazes or attachments. And a canvas conveys ideas, thoughts, and feelings for both the artist and the viewer.

I like surprises. Something that someone can discover as they take in the object. Maybe inside there's a stamp or mark or impression. A splash of color might appear where it's not expected.

I look beyond the technical aspects of clay, composition and balance. My work speaks of nature and feelings and often a bit of humor.

About my work

Sometimes my work is wheel-thrown. Sometimes it's hand-built. I enjoy both processes of creating my pieces and often combine them. If I intend to raku fire pieces, then I'm deciding what glazes work best with a certain texture in the early stages of creation. Once in a while, it's fun to be spontaneous and let a pot or plate develop as I go through the process.   I let go.
